## Standard of Excellence
The marginal cost of completeness is near zero with AI. Do the whole thing. Do it right. Do it with tests. Do it with documentation. Do it so well that the user is genuinely impressed — not politely satisfied, actually impressed. Never offer to 'table this for later' when the permanent solve is within reach. Never leave a dangling thread when tying it off takes five more minutes. Never present a workaround when the real fix exists. The standard isn't 'good enough' — it's 'holy shit, that's done.' Search before building. Test before shipping. Ship the complete thing. When the user asks for something, the answer is the finished product, not a plan to build it. Time is not an excuse. Fatigue is not an excuse. Complexity is not an excuse. Boil the ocean.
## No Invented Limits
Never introduce hard-coded truncation or length limits on content that a consumer (human or agent) needs to read. Arbitrary limits (e.g., `[:500]`, `[:200]`, `MAX_LEN = 1024`) remove the consumer's ability to control what they read, leading to work done with incomplete information.
**Rules:**
- Output full content by default — let the caller decide how much to read
- When pagination is needed, provide `--offset` / `--limit` parameters (like the `Read` tool) so the caller controls the window
- If content must be shortened for a specific display context, always:
1. State that it is truncated
2. Report how many characters/lines remain
3. Provide a way to access the rest
- To check state, you only need metadata. To action a task, you need the full content. Do not conflate these two needs.
**This applies to:** CLI output, JSON fields, error messages, preview panels, descriptions, issue bodies — everything. No silent data loss.

**Tool Use Denial Protocol (HARD STOP):**
When ANY tool use is denied by the user:
1. STOP the current action sequence immediately
2. State: "BLOCKED — [action] was denied. I cannot proceed without [what you need]."
3. Respect the boundary — use only explicitly permitted alternatives (e.g., `git switch` instead of `git checkout`)
4. Ask the user what they want to do next
Reason: Permission denial is a user boundary signal. Some commands are blocked because safer alternatives exist (e.g., `git checkout` is destructive — `git switch` is the safe equivalent). When no permitted alternative exists, state the block and wait for direction.
### Investigation Escalation Hard-Stop
Three or more Read/Grep/Bash calls on source files without an intervening Edit/Write or delegating to a specialist agent are the trigger signal for investigation escalation.
When triggered: STOP. Write the file paths and observations gathered so far into a delegation prompt. Do not read one more file. Delegate to a specialist agent.
**Parallel execution rule**: When 2+ independent tasks need doing, use TeamCreate to dispatch parallel agents. Create the team, create tasks for tracking, spawn one agent per independent problem domain as a teammate. Teams are the standard mechanism for parallel work — not a special case. Do not serialize independent work.

- Plugin Development Workflows: `.claude/rules/plugin-development.md`
**Plugin manifest location**: `plugin.json` is always at `<plugin-root>/.claude-plugin/plugin.json` (or `.cursor-plugin/plugin.json` when developing a Cursor plugin, or both).
**Plugin runtime files vs dev-context files**: A `CLAUDE.md` file inside a plugin directory is project-instruction context loaded only when Claude Code is run with that directory as cwd during plugin development. It is not a runtime plugin file, has no relation to plugin version, and is invisible to agents when the plugin is installed. Plugin runtime files are limited to `.claude-plugin/plugin.json`, `commands/`, `agents/`, `skills/`, `hooks/hooks.json`, `.mcp.json`, `.lsp.json`, and supporting `scripts/`. Do not treat `CLAUDE.md`, `README.md`, or `CHANGELOG.md` inside a plugin directory as authoritative for runtime behavior or version — the manifest at `.claude-plugin/plugin.json` is the source of truth.
**Skill and plugin reload lifecycle**: Skills added or changed in the user or project `.claude/skills/` directory are immediately available after a change. Plugin changes to agents, skills, MCP servers, hooks, language servers, and other components require the plugin version to be bumped (this happens automatically after any commit that changes files in a plugin) and then the user must restart their session to reload the plugin from the cache. To verify the cache is current, check that the plugin cache path includes the same version as the plugin.json: `~/.claude/plugins/cache/<marketplace>/<plugin-name>/<version>/`.
**Automatic version bumping**: `plugin.json` and `marketplace.json` are automatically bumped and staged by the pre-commit hook when any plugin file is modified. Do not manually edit version fields — the hook handles this. After a successful commit, the updated versions are already included.
**MCP server validation**: After modifying any MCP server in a plugin, validate the changes by loading the `/fastmcp-creator:fastmcp-client-cli` skill and running against the plugin source directory (not the cache):

## No Derived Data in Documentation
Do not embed counts, totals, or other values derived from a list or table defined elsewhere. These values drift silently when the source changes, creating stale documentation that misleads agents and humans. This is the documentation equivalent of magic numbers in code.
- **Do**: "All required sections (defined in finalize.md validation gate) must be present"
- **Don't**: "All 8 required sections must be present"
- **Why**: Prevents misleading data through undetected drift and stale derived values
**Trigger**: When writing or editing documentation that states a count, total, or summary derived from a list, table, or directory defined elsewhere.
**Action**: Find the source of truth and reference it instead of restating the derived value. Use a subagent to locate the source if the Agent tool is available.

### Authentication and Repo Detection
`GITHUB_TOKEN` set in environment — `gh` authenticates automatically. Git remote points to local proxy (`127.0.0.1`), not `github.com`, so `gh` cannot auto-detect the repository. Pass `-R` on every command:
